The Bible says to

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5&6

Last week I did research preparing for a presentation for a Sunday school class at my church. I read about our promised land. Paraphrasing from an online Bible study, it discussed that our promised land is God’s call on our lives. It stressed the importance of staying on course with God, holding fast to Him and letting Him complete whatever He wants to do with us in our own wilderness experience. When we do that and let Him guide us we will be rewarded and those rewards can be beyond our wildest dreams and expectations.

Chocolate, cream and insects anyone?

I have an assortment of kitchen toys that makes it possible for me to slice and dice, whip and knead, grill, bake and fry with the best of home chefs. One of my favorite is my Cuisinart ice cream maker. I’m not bragging but, I can freeze a half gallon of creamy custard or sorbet in a matter of minutes.

Admittedly, it wouldn’t win a blue ribbon if put in competition with a good old fashioned ice cream maker, but it might place a close second. I like to make up my own flavors. Fresh fruit in season is always a delish choice and of course who’d turn down cookie dough or candy pieces blended in with the creamy custard but…

I saw on the news the other day an ice cream store in Columbia, MO self advertises they push the limits on ice cream flavors, so they added a new one to their menu. They said it not only tasted good, but helped control summer pests. Hmm, do I have your attention? I imagine so.

biscuits and gravy please!

Saturday, June 4, 2011

Everyone loves breakfast. You know I’m right! We don’t all love breakfast in the morning – some of us prefer breakfast for supper – or maybe after a late night on the town. Personally, I’m happy to eat breakfast any time of the day or night.

The other morning, my husband and I stopped at a local cafĂ© for breakfast. Looking for a quick bite to tide us over until lunch, we told our server we didn’t need a menu –biscuits and gravy please.
In a matter of seconds, 2 plates with our split biscuit smothered in thick, creamy sausage gravy were set before us. Highly aware our next stop might be the local cardiology department, we eagerly dug our forks into the lip smacking goodness before us. I need to say,we know it’s not the healthiest menu choice so we don’t eat it often, but man is it good!
